Who We Are

Boost reliability. Improve performance.

Boost reliability and performance with IET’s physics-based anomaly detection systems.

Our predictive maintenance experts work closely with site reliability engineers and operations teams to identify equipment issues before they become failures.

Mission

To turn physics into clarity—transforming first-principle models through engineering rigor and validation into real-time diagnostic tools that help operators improve performance, manage risk, and operate sustainably.

Vision

To push the boundaries of applied science uniting theory, engineering, and innovation to create diagnostic technologies that turn complex signals into clarity.

Purpose

To develop technologies to help people and the planet by extending equipment life, protecting resources, and ensuring safer, more efficient operations through continuous physics-based monitoring.

Our Story

Engineering Insight.

Earlier Awareness.

Better Decisions

IET was founded on a mission that started decades ago. Combining world-class engineering with a vision to solve real-world industrial challenges.

01

The Beginning

Dr. Terry E. Reimer, PhD EE, a veteran engineer who worked with NASA on the Saturn V rocket for the Apollo Missions, joined with his graduate student, Jim Tedesco, MS EE.

Together they shared a vision for applying digital signal processing techniques to solve real-world industrial challenges.

02

Proven in the Field

With Tedesco's focus on solving practical problems, the two engineers co-founded Sygnology, LLC, an affiliate of IET.

Together they secured an $18-million contract with Shell to develop proprietary technology that extended valve life, detected and diagnosed leaks, and identified early indicators of wear and damage in rotating equipment.

03

The Evolution

From that experience arose the idea of developing a real-time anomaly detection system based on physics and designed for continuous equipment monitoring with alert notifications.

Our system automates instantaneous and cumulative damage detection and delivers diagnostic insights directly to the monitoring dashboard and by email/SMS.

04

IET Today

Unlike many competitors who use statistical models, our proprietary technology is based on physics and requires no long training periods after deployment.

Our technology works with existing data streams, does not require additional hardware installation, and works with slow sampled data.

Company Beginnings

The company began when Dr. Terry E. Riemer, PhD EE, a veteran engineer whose early career included working with NASA on the Saturn V rocket for the Apollo Missions, joined with Jim Tedesco, MS EE, a graduate student of Dr. Riemer’s who harnessed the vision for applying digital signal processing techniques to solve real world industrial challenges.

With Tedesco’s focus on solving practical problems, together the two engineers co-founded Sygnology, LLC, an affiliate of IET, securing an $18-million contract with Shell to develop proprietary technology that extended valve life, detected and diagnosed pipe leaks, and identified early indicators of wear and damage in rotating equipment for one of the world’s largest oil corporations.

From that experience arose the idea of developing a real-time anomaly detection system based on physics and designed for continuous equipment monitoring with alert notifications.  Our anomaly detection system automates instantaneous and cumulative damage detection providing diagnostic insights directly to the monitoring dashboard and summary diagnostic reporting delivered by email/SMS which contains actionable condition indicators that equipment operators can use to make decisions.

Unlike some of our competitors who use statistical models, our proprietary technology is based on physics and requires no long training periods to provide anomaly detection capabilities after deployment.  Our technology works with existing data streams and does not require additional hardware installation.  Our system is designed to work with aliased data which was sampled at a slow rate.
